“Finding Your Sound: Interpretation and Improvisation for Singers”
5-Day Singing Workshop in Zagreb, Croatia | January 2-6, 2025
Unlock your vocal potential and discover your unique sound in this 5-day workshop designed for intermediate-level singers. “Finding Your Sound: Interpretation and Improvisation for Singers” will take you on a journey to master vocal interpretation and improvisational techniques, giving you the tools to elevate your performances and build confidence on stage.
Held from January 2-6, 2025, in Zagreb, this immersive program combines 3-hour daily group sessions with individual coaching tailored to your voice. Over the course of the workshop, you’ll prepare a song for a final showcase performance and take part in a jam session, applying the skills you’ve learned in a live setting.
Workshop Highlights:
- Daily Group Sessions (3h/day): Develop your vocal technique, emotional interpretation, and improvisation through hands-on exercises and guided practice.
- Private Lessons: 2 x 30-minute one-on-one coaching sessions with Maja Savic, focusing on song interpretation and refining your vocal technique.
- Final Showcase: Perform 1 song at the end of the workshop in a supportive and encouraging setting.
- Jam Session: After the showcase, participate in a jam session where you can apply your improvisational skills and enjoy spontaneous performances.
- Workbook & Audio Exercises: Continue your learning with a workbook and audio exercises designed to support your vocal growth after the workshop.
Provisional Program Overview:
Day 1: Vocal Awareness & Interpretation
Focus: Build foundational vocal techniques and explore emotional connection to your song.
- Warm-ups focusing on breath control, tone, and resonance.
- Group exercises to explore storytelling through singing.
- Song selection and emotional breakdown for the final showcase.
Day 2: Personalizing Your Song
Focus: Develop dynamic control, phrasing, and emotional delivery in your performance.
- Advanced exercises to refine vocal expression and tone.
- First 30-minute private lesson to dive into your chosen song and vocal technique. (the schedule for the lessons will be planned on the 1st day)
Day 3: Vocal Improvisation & Creative Expression
Focus: Explore vocal improvisation techniques and creative freedom.
- Learn improvisational techniques like riffs, runs, and scat singing.
- Group improvisation to build confidence and vocal creativity.
- Preparing for the jam session—understanding how to collaborate and shine in a live setting.
Day 4: Performance Confidence & Stage Presence
Focus: Fine-tune your performance skills and build stage confidence.
- Techniques to manage stage fright and engage the audience.
- Rehearse and polish your song for the final showcase.
- Second 30-minute private lesson to perfect your interpretation and vocal style.
Day 5: Showcase & Jam Session
Focus: Perform and apply your skills in a live performance and jam session.
- Full rehearsal and last-minute adjustments before the showcase.
- Final Showcase: Each participant performs 1 song, showcasing their interpretation and improvisational skills.
- Jam Session: A fun, collaborative experience where you apply what you’ve learned, improvise, and sing alongside your peers.
Venue & Schedule:
- Location: Music School Pavao Markovac & Elementary School Silvije Strahimir Kranjčević, Zagreb, Croatia.
- Time: Daily sessions from 17:00 to 20:00.
Fee:
- €220 per participant.
This includes all group sessions, 2 x 30-minute private lessons, workbook, audio exercises, and participation in the final showcase and jam session.
